The Red Wing 3471 Engineer Copper Rough & Tough boot was developed for America’s railroad engineers in the early 20th century. The Red Wing Engineer 3471 is an all-leather Engineer boot used to protect the engineer’s feet from the hazards in locomotive cabins. The Red Wing 3471 Engineer boot has split at the top of the shaft that allowed the engineer to bend during work. The Red Wing Engineer first appeared in the Red Wing catalog of 1941 as style number 919. The shoe was presented as the ideal boot for engineers as well as truck drivers. This brown Red Wing Engineer is made from Copper Rough & Tough leather, an oil tanned leather which has a vintage-like appearance due to the amount of oil that was used during production. The Red Wing 3471 Engineer boot has a Traction Tred Cushion Crepe sole and is also available in Black Boundary.
