Red Wing Shoes 2970 - 11" Engineer Briar Oil Slick. The model was originally designed for railroad engineers. It provided all protection necessary from the hazards in the locomotive cabins. The buckle was added as a status symbol, which to some extent it still is for this type of boot. The Briar Oil Slick leather is easily recognized as oil tanned because of the greasy feel of the leather. The outsole is the Cushion Crepe Wedge with Traction Tred.
