    <title>Red Wing Shoes in LA</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-in-la</link>
    <description>
	Last week we visited Los Angeles to get inspired at Rin Tanaka&amp;#39;s Inspiration, the Rose Bowl Flea Market and all the other lovely places of LA. A &amp;#39;denim haven&amp;#39; as LA is it surely has good roots for vintage boots. The stacks and bales and warehouses full of vintage jeans where all accompanied with beautiful aged Red Wing Shoes. Straight from the mines and factories! Here some images taken at Inspiration, the Rose Bowl, our secret denim dealer and more. Enjoy!

    <description>
	Two weeks ago we had little event, a night with personal, unique stories behind fifteen pairs of Red Wing boots, as told by the owners themselves, at the Red Wing Shoes Store in Amsterdam. It was a&amp;nbsp; to remember! Enjoy this little movie by Benjamin &amp;amp; Daan.

    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/red-wing-shoes-work-oxford-8103-oro-russet-portage</link>
    <description>
	The 8103 was built to meet the demands of factory managers who needed a sturdy work shoe as they moved from their office to the factory floor.
	The Work Oxford is a low version of the 6&amp;quot; Moc. This boot with its distinctive appearance is more suitable for the warmer times of the year and its Norwegian Welt construction adds extra durability. The outsole is the Cushion Crepe Wedge with Traction Tred.

    <title>Rivers of Ice</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/rivers-of-ice</link>
    <description>
	It is getting colder here in the lowlands and the Dutch start dreaming about the Elfstedentocht, a 200 km ice ride in the north of the Netherlands. We can only be happy with the cold as it is the perfect weather for some heavy and warm Red Wing boots, so we thought let&amp;#39;s show some real cold, some real snow and ice. And there&amp;#39;s only one who did that in a beautiful and inspiring way: Vittorio Sella (1859 - 1943). Vittorio was an Italian photographer and mountaineer who climbed all the tops of the earth, from the European tops like the Mont Blanc and the Monte Rosa until the K2 and the peaks of the Caucasus, and made truly amazing images during his climbs. The images above where published in the 1st edition (1941) of Encyclopedie Alpina (via warymeyers).
	Make sure you stay warm in pair of Red Wing Shoes 2268 Engineer Black Chrome, the Red Wing Shoes Work Gloves in Cognac, the Woolrich Arctic Cap in Olive, the Woolrich Byrd Cloth Parka Fango,&amp;nbsp;the Merz B. Schwanen Long John 250 Natural and the&amp;nbsp;Army Shirt Long 212 Grey Melange and enjoy the cold!

    <description>
	Last month two of our favorite blogs posted both their own story on the Red Wing Shoes repair workshop and their beloved Red Wing 875&amp;nbsp;boots. The first one was Cool Hunting on the &amp;#39;Red Wing Shoes Repair Service&amp;#39; and how a pair of well loved boots gets a much needed refresh at the century old workshop. The second one was from A Continuos Lean&amp;#39;s &amp;#39;Better Than New, re-crafting the Red Wing 875&amp;#39;. Both, Evan Orensten and Michael Williams, shipped their pair of boots back to the factory in Minnesota for a resole and made some nice images of the process. The buckle was added as a status symbol, which to some extent it still is for this type of boot. Oil tanned Amber Harness leather is versatile and easy to maintain.

    <description>
	It is always inspiring to visit the fairs, last week Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence, and this week Bread &amp;amp; Butter in Berlin. We decided to get our focus on Red Wing Shoes and we can say, it&amp;#39;s good to see so many people enjoying their boots. Here&amp;#39;s just a little preview of a huge collection of images which we will share online later this month at Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam. And there&amp;#39;s more. Tomorrow we will sit down with Nigel Cabourn and Gabor Magyar (Red Wing Europe) to talk about their latest collaboration, the Munson Boot. Later more on that.

    <title>The Munson Boot by Nigel Cabourn and Red Wing</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/the-munson-boot-by-nigel-cabourn-and-red-wing</link>
    <description>
	Last week we announced the Red Wing Shoes Brogue that will be released this autumn, and just a few days later we can announce another fantastic collaboration between American and British heritage. The Munson Boot, the first collaboration between Nigel Cabourn and Red Wing.
	When Nigel Cabourn found some vintage British Army combat boots from World War I he immediately wanted to replicate those boots, carefully made to exacting quality standards. And he knew Red Wing Shoes was the only manufactory who could do such a thing.
	These boots are made using Munson Lasts, which haven&amp;rsquo;t been used by Red Wing since the late 1960s. The boots are lined with a beautiful army green Harris tweed selected by Nigel. The sole is made from a combination of vegetable-tanned leather and Red Wing&amp;rsquo;s original chemigum cork. The upper is made with a heavily oiled roughout leather to come as close as possible to Nigel&amp;#39;s vintage Army boots.&amp;nbsp;
	The boot is a feast of details and we could keep on talking about the army green eyelets, the extra-thick leather shoelaces, the history of the Munson lasts and so on and so on, but we better wait until we have it in our shop coming autumn. It will be amazing!

    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-8126-and-8127-6inch-brogue-ranger</link>
    <description>
	This fall Red Wing Shoes will launch a new shoe where the ultimate work boot will meet British heritage. The shoe was originally designed as a country walking shoe for the people around Red Wing, Minnesota. Farmers and gamekeepers who needed a boot that could withstand constant exposure to water and a boot that, when wet, would not break down and hurt a person&amp;rsquo;s feet.&amp;nbsp;
	The small perforations were crafted into the leather of the toecaps and quarters of the boot to allow water to drain and the boot to dry at a quickened pace.
	The shoes, in Antique Brown Chapararal and Black Chaparral leather with a Nitrile Cork sole, will be available at the Red Wing Shoes store in Amsterdam, and online, coming fall.

Amongst many others the visitors will get to know all about the Red Wing boots of a Norwegian fisherman, two bikers from the United States and a rock band from Sweden. Each Red Wing pair shows a &amp;#39;history&amp;#39; and a unique insight into the lives of the owners.

    <title>Moc Monday</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/moc-monday</link>
    <description>
	The Moc&amp;#39;s are the original work boot styles that made Red Wing famous. They where designed for the workers on the farms and factories with a lightweight crepe sole with a minimal tread design to reduce the mud and dirt that would&amp;nbsp; cleave to under your shoes. The name of the Moc came from the word moccasin, the Algonquian Indian word for shoe and became an icon for the Red Wing brand.
	Last weeks we found some old late 19th-, early 20th century pictures of miners and factory workers wearing them, and we decided to make a shopwindow to celebrate this boot with its strong heritage.
	In the window some new and old Red Wing Shoes 8131 6&amp;quot; Moc Oro-Russet&amp;#39;s and 877 8&amp;quot; Classic Moc Oro-iginal&amp;#39;s. Enjoy them all over here &amp;gt;

    <title>Red Wing Shoes 8113 Iron Rangers from Portugal</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-8113-iron-rangers-from-portugal</link>
    <description>
	Our Portuguese DJ friend Leote sent us some sunny images from his worn Red Wing Shoes 8113 Iron Ranger Hawthorne Muleskinner that he bought at the Red Wing Shoe Store about a year ago.
	As he states in his email: &amp;quot;..pics of my Red Wing Iron Ranger&amp;#39;s bought them in 2010 september at the Red wing Amsterdam shop and since then they have been with me during surfing trips, they suffered from sun, rain and lots of nights clubbing thanks to my DJ work.&amp;quot; His conclusion: They only get prettier along the way. Have a look at his stunning pair of 8113 (and for the record ignore the sunny weather like we did too).

    <title>9030 - Beckman Moc Antique Cigar </title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/red-wing-shoes-9030-beckman-moc-antique-cigar</link>
    <description>
	Back in the early days of the twentieth century, the streets in Red Wing Minnesota were pretty much either muddy or dusty. A businessman like Mr Beckman therefore needed sturdy boots that could be polished to reflect his status as a successful shoe company owner. The &amp;lsquo;9030&amp;rsquo; is part of the Beckman collection. This collection is based on the boot&amp;rsquo;s classic Red Wing styling and the use of exclusive Black Featherstone dress leather. This leather is both light-weight and durable, which explains the name of this particular boot. These 6-inch boots feature an embossed moc toe style, 9 eyelets and a Vibram sole for solid grip. Also available in black.
	Maintenance: Leather Conditioner and to polish: Shoe Cream.

    <title>The 8125 Blueberry Muleskinner</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/the-8125-blueberry-muleskinner</link>
    <description>
	The perfect match in style, and probably the oldest match in history is definitely Red Wing Shoes and Levi&amp;#39;s Vintage Clothing.&amp;nbsp;We simply love this look at Tenue de N&amp;icirc;mes, the Red Wing Shoes 8125 8&amp;quot; Classic Moc Blueberry Muleskinner together with the amazing Levi&amp;#39;s Vintage Clothing 1890 501 XX Spur Bites Limited Edition jeans. The Levi&amp;reg; Strauss &amp;amp; Co. archives bought the original jeans in 1997 for $25,000. These legendary jeans were made between 1890-1901 in San Francisco with XX 9 oz. denim from the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in Manchester, New Hampshire. The name &amp;lsquo;Spur Bites&amp;rsquo; refers to the damage at the leg openings that are typically the result from wearing spurs and riding boots, something cowboys from back in the day were well familiar with. The spur bites were repaired with a number of patches from a variety of denims, one of which is the same as the jeans itself. This suggests that it was at least the second pair the wearer owned. He sacrificed one pair to save another. The yarns were dyed with natural indigo. This piece is sewn in the USA, limited to 501 pairs worldwide. A truly amazing piece to accompany your Red Wing boots.

    <title>Vintage Find #6 - The Jack Possum Mine</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/vintage-find-6-the-jack-possum-mine</link>
    <description>
	We found another old cabinet photo of a group of miners in the Jack Possum Mine, Wentworth, Missouri. There&amp;#39;s not much information on this mine, but with a little research we found out that it was owned by Smith &amp;amp; Hodges Mining Co. and was one of the largest in that area around 1915 to dig for sphalerite, the most common zinc ore.&amp;nbsp;
	It&amp;#39;s a beautiful picture that breaths the dark underground atmosphere, the young brave men wearing heavy boots, denim overalls and dungarees accompanied by a hinny on the right for the real heavy work. A great addition to our growing collection.

It is still loved after more than 50 years. The Oro-iginal leather is rich in color and ages like nothing else. The outsole is the Cushion Crepe Wedge with Traction Tred. The best thing of having shop is that you meet a diverse range of people and get to know all their different stories. Pauke Dekker is one of those clients. Being a chef cook and running her own company to serve delicious meals for private dinners, she often goes to Laneuvelle, France, to get some real ingredients. Laneuvelle is a small place where people grow their own food, from mushrooms, wine and escargot to all kinds of fruits and vegetables, whatever the season is offering. We&amp;#39;re really happy to see a pair of Red Wing Shoes 877 Classic Moc Oro-iginals in a wine yard. Thank you Pauke for sharing your lovely story!

    <title>In The Blood</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/in-the-blood</link>
    <description>
	Just found out about this amazing documentary film illustrating&amp;nbsp; the life, skills &amp;amp; character of the turn-of-the-century Maine lumbermen &amp;amp; river drivers. Using oral histories, rare films &amp;amp; photography &amp;#39;In The Blood&amp;#39; presents an accurate and vivid portrait of the men who pioneered their way through the 19th century Maine woods. The documentary was made by Sumner McKane, a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and filmmaker based in mid-coast Maine and is a truly amazing source of inspiration.

    <title>Vintage Find #5 - The Rail, Mine and factory workers</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/vintage-find-5-the-rail-mine-and-factory-workers</link>
    <description>
	When we started the Red Wing Shoes store Amsterdam I started collecting bank bags, and although I didn&amp;#39;t started a real collection before I completely lost myself on ebay, searching for vintage bank bags, leather deposit bags and other vintage bank related pieces. The collection is still growing but I forced myself to put the energy in something worth sharing here. And a new collection was born.
	Together with Menno we&amp;#39;re now putting together a collection of vintage photographs of people wearing denim (for Tenue de N&amp;icirc;mes) and images of rail-, mine-, and factory workers for the&amp;nbsp;Red Wing Shoes store Amsterdam. It&amp;#39;s an amazing source of inspiration, and they will probably make it into a publication, but until then we will share some here.

The light weight and durable leather is custom tanned at the S.B. Foot Tannery, located in Featherstone Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota. <title>Winter is coming</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/winter-is-coming</link>
    <description>
	We are always happy to see it&amp;#39;s getting colder, we love the winter, the short days and adventurous trips in the snow and on the ice. Yesterday I received this photo in the mail with a beautiful monologue on why it was so special. About the composition, the different tones of grey, but primarily about the mess and the huddle on the deck. How on earth could they sail in this kind of mess between the floes and ice bergs, what was the story behind it, who was it?
	The only thing we know is that it was a crew member of one of Bob Barlett&amp;#39;s expeditions to the Arctic, taking a movie of ice berg off the bow of the ship, Greenland, 1939 (Smithsonian Institution Archives)
	A truly amazing image, and definitely one that feeds our desire to sail between these floes and ice bergs ! (Thank you Ferry for sharing!)

    <title>2268 Engineers</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/2268-engineers</link>
    <description>
	Last week, a man entered the store, wearing these amazing looking Engineer boots. He told us that he bought them over 20 years ago! After beating these boots up for so long, and having them resoled a couple of times, he thought it was time for his babies to retire. The good thing of Red Wing Shoes is that you can buy the same shoes as 20 years ago. And so he did. Never change a winning team!
	While our new friend was heading for the door, wearing his new Red Wing Shoes 2268 Engineers, we asked somewhat eagerly what he planned doing with old ones? Not to worry, he said. &amp;#39;They&amp;rsquo;re retired now, but I&amp;rsquo;ll make sure to take em out for a ride on my bike every now and then.&amp;#39;
	Although we forgot to ask for the guys name, we did take some pictures of his boots! If you look closely, you&amp;acute;ll notice the personalized rivet action on the back of the boot&amp;rsquo;s shaft - added for extra coolness. What a guy!

Photographers working for the United States Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI) created the images between 1939 and 1944.&amp;#39; Simply beautiful! <title>Crazy Horse Monument - Five Against the Mountain</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/crazy-horse-monument-five-against-the-mountain</link>
    <description>
	In 1939 Chief Henry Standing Bear commissioned Korczak Ziolkowski to build a monument to the late Oglala Lakota hero: Crazy Horse and to celebrate the Indian Nation. In 1948, a small group of craftsmen took over the monumental task of sculpting the mountain into a man. &amp;ldquo;Crazy Horse&amp;rdquo; documents the devotion they give each day in pursuit of perfection. It&amp;rsquo;s the story of how the monument consumed and surpassed Korczak&amp;#39;s life. Today Korczak&amp;#39;s son and four dedicated craftsmen continued the journey. They have teamed up to bring this incredible monument to life. And like all well-crafted achievements, it will not only live on as a tribute to those it represents, but as a tribute to the perseverance of those who built it.&amp;nbsp;This is their story. Enjoy the show. (image from here)

    <title>It's Better In The Wind</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/its-better-in-the-wind</link>
    <description>
	Yes, it is better in the wind! Scott Toepfer finally put online the full length short movy &amp;lsquo;It&amp;#39;s Better In The Wind&amp;rsquo;. For the last two years he have been taking still photographs for a personal project entitled &amp;#39;It&amp;#39;s Better In The Wind,&amp;#39; all the while collecting video footage from each ride as they traveled around the Western United States together. The result is this lovely short movie, in his own words &amp;lsquo;just a collection of imagery that will hopefully inspire more people to take to the road and discover what there is outside of our respective communities.&amp;rsquo; It does inspire us! Especially with the tunes of Chuck Ragan on the background - the only thing I want is hop on that bike, and hit the road&amp;hellip;.

    <description>
	Red Wing Shoes 3147 - Work Chukka Black Abilene. This is a classic chukka model with workman functionality. Typical for this type of boot are the three eyelets on each side and a thin crepe outsole. Complete with black laces. The look is casual, but the model is tough, like all other Red Wing Shoes. The Black Abilene is a classic must have.

    <title>Inventory Magazine</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/inventory-magazine</link>
    <description>
	We are very honored to be featured in the new issue of Inventory Magazine. The Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam Store is featured in their &amp;lsquo;Shopped&amp;rsquo; section together with&amp;nbsp; Stock Vintage in New York, Tortoise General Store in Los Angeles and Nelson the Seagull in Vancouver.

	&amp;lsquo;One of the most famous boot companies in the world has done well over the past few years with the resurgence of heritage brands in America and Europe. While they haven&amp;rsquo;t tried to exploit the undeniable trend, they have reacted in a reserved, calculated and tasteful way. With the opening of a couple of European shops, Red Wing has been able to extend the brand&amp;rsquo;s reach and offer a full range of product to a new market. The Red Wing Amsterdam location is a prime example of how the brand has taken this path, while also offering a fresh retail experience to the local market. In partnership with the owners of Tenue de N&amp;icirc;mes, the Red Wing shop carries a wide selection of items, merchandised alongside accessories from The Hill-Side, Duluth Pack and a handful of menswear publications. Amongst a collection of vintage tools, beds of coal and industrial furniture, Red Wing is also able to showcase their collection of lifestyle boots, designed in Japan and made in the United States.&amp;rsquo;

A beautiful and rare pair of boots, looking very much like the old Moc Toe&amp;#39;s in the&amp;nbsp;Vintage Find we blogged earlier but we&amp;rsquo;re still not sure what it is and where they come from. When we know more, we&amp;rsquo;ll share it here.

    <description>
	We love browsing the LIFE archives - there is so much to see, and such a rich documentation on the working class of the 20th century.. The other day we found these works by Hansel Mieth (1909&amp;ndash;1998), a German-born photojournalist who worked on the staff of LIFE Magazine. She was best known for her social commentary photography which recorded the lives of working class Americans in the 1930s and 1940s. Here an amazing series of pictures of men working in a tannery and gloves factory in the late 30s.

    <description>
	The Red Wing Shoes 2972 Copper Rough &amp;amp; Tough was originally designed for railroad engineers. It provided all the protection necessary against the hazards in the locomotive cabins. The buckle was added as a status symbol, which to some extent it still is for this type of boot. This boot is made with our Copper Rough &amp;amp; Tough leather, which has a nice &amp;lsquo;worn look&amp;rsquo; and will only become more beautiful over time. Until recently, this model was exclusively available in Japan, but we are excited to announce that you can now get your own pair at the Red Wing Store in Amsterdam!

At the shop we celebrated this with a shop window dedicated totraveling. The three different Beckman&amp;rsquo;s: the Cherry, Chestnut and the Black, the Heritage Leather Tool Bag, Le Labo&amp;rsquo;s vintage candles and some really nice Tanner Goods accessories which will come online anytime soon. <title>Vintage Find #2 - The Canvas Security Bag</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/vintage-find-2-the-canvas-security-bag</link>
    <description>
	When we opened the Red Wing Shoes Store Amsterdam we filled it with vintage items, varying from old tools, miner canary cages, antique flags and signs, all from the United States. While looking for all these things I found an old bank bag and a new collection was born. A mere 1,5 year later the collection of bank related bags has grown to something around 70+ items, all different, from every corner of the world and from the early 20th century until today.
	This one is one of the key pieces. An extremely old security bag. Fantastically aged leather, heavy weight canvas, beautiful stenciled type and a rubber bottom by Can Pro Corp from Wisconsin. Unfortunately the leather strap with the lock is lost, but it still is an amazing piece. Especially love the shades and winkles in the leather! Imagine your Iron Rangers 50 years from now&amp;hellip;

    <title>Red Wing Shoes factory visit</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-factory-visit</link>
    <description>
	About a year ago Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam was invited to Red Wing, Minnesota to pay a visit to the Red Wing Shoe factory and tannery. Our mission:&amp;nbsp; to discover first hand the deepest secrets&amp;nbsp; of the American, old school&amp;nbsp; production process. The factory is home to a hospitable team of employees, most of whom have worked at the Red Wing factory for nearly 30 years. All the craftsmen and -women ply&amp;nbsp; their own particular craft on the old machinery. Some of the Red Wing machines&amp;nbsp; were&amp;nbsp; patented in 1893 and have,&amp;nbsp; to this very day, not been replaced.
	The S.B. Foot tannery is older than the&amp;nbsp; Red Wing Shoes factory itself. The brand bought the tannery in the 80s to control the entire production process of the shoes. Almost&amp;nbsp; all&amp;nbsp; the machines are sourced from Italy because that is where the best equipment for this purpose&amp;nbsp; comes from. Most of these&amp;nbsp; have&amp;nbsp; been altered&amp;nbsp; so they can process the thick leather that&amp;rsquo;s used for work boots.&amp;nbsp; After sorting and shaving,&amp;nbsp; the leather is colored, dyed, oiled, waxed, dried and finished to the exact requirements of a specific type of leather shoe.&amp;nbsp;
	It was not just the mechanical supremacy that&amp;nbsp; was a sight to behold. The human elements involved, such as the workers&amp;rsquo; loyalty, craftsmanship and the pride they take in their work was something we had not witnessed before.&amp;nbsp;Our friends at Hypebest featured the video we did. Here&amp;rsquo;s a series of pictures we made.

    <title>Vintage Find #1</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/vintage-find-1</link>
    <description>
	We love vintage items and it&amp;rsquo;s always good to see a pair of really nice vintage Red Wing Shoes.&amp;nbsp;This pair of shoes, found by Menno, are quite rare. We&amp;rsquo;re not sure but they are probably from somewhere before the 50s. They look like the new Ox Blood 214&amp;rsquo;s, but with an old Avon sole and beautifully faded. Simply amazing! If you know more about it, just let us know.&amp;nbsp;
	We will try to make this a returning feature here online to share all the great items we find, whether it are shoes, or other vintage items. Stay tuned...

    <title>Europeans</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/europeans</link>
    <description>
	Our friend Yamandu is crossing Europe to document the the new union, the new borders and our new partners in &amp;rsquo;Europeans&amp;rsquo;, a photographic project that is running for a few years already. Every now and then we receive postcards from another corner of the Union, and every time when he&amp;rsquo;s back he shares his great stories and images from the road with us.&amp;nbsp;
	We decided to support him with a proper pair of 877&amp;rsquo;s (the 8&amp;quot; Classic Moc Oro-iginal), and he decided to document them aging while on the road. And it&amp;rsquo;s good to see they&amp;rsquo;re not only used as a good companion for the road as photographer, but it turns out Yamandu is a good logger as well! (pictures by Norbert van Leijen)

    <title>Tenue de Nimes &amp; Tender Co</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/tenue-de-nimes-tender-co</link>
    <description>
	Tenue de N&amp;icirc;mes teamed up with British denim professor William Krol at Tender Co with whom they created 12 hand-numbered jeans. Rather than using a standard yarn-dyed fabric these jeans were cut from piece-dyed cloth. Piece-dyeing heavy canvas like this&amp;nbsp; is usually done over rollers in a large vat, using a carefully controlled automated process, but the canvas for these Tender x Tenue de Nimes jeans has been scrunched into a small vat, causing it to crease up in the dye which leaves marks and streaks on the cloth.&amp;nbsp; It means that each pair of jeans is subtly unique. The&amp;nbsp; final color of these jeans is reminiscent of a standard beige duck fabric, but the shade is warmer and richer- in fact its&amp;nbsp; color is similar to that of a flowerpot. Read more at Tenue de N&amp;icirc;mes &amp;gt;&amp;nbsp;The perfect denim to combine with the&amp;nbsp;Red Wing Shoes 3147 - Work Chukka Black Abilene.

    <description>

    <title>the Puritan Stitch Machine</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/the-puritan-stitch-machine</link>
    <description>
	I remembered it well, the Puritan Stitch Machine at the Red Wing Shoes factory, Plant 2, in Red Wing, Minnesota. The machine has been referred to as a &amp;quot;work horse&amp;quot; within the Red Wing Shoe Company. The Puritan creates the iconic triple stitch detail which contributes to the durability and strength of the boots.&amp;nbsp;

	And I remembered him as well, the retired employee who had operated this machinery for 44 years and couldn&amp;rsquo;t say goodbye &amp;mdash; and finally was called back because of his extensive knowledge of the machine. A beautiful insight by Red Wing Shoes!

Started in 1905, and manufactured all the way up to 1988, these amazing bicycles where only for the bravest soldiers teamed up in the so called Velotruppe (Velo Force). I&amp;rsquo;m curious how fast this unit was, since the bikes were more than 22 kg and the Swiss terrain not flat at all&amp;hellip; Especially love the bags and cases so nicely fitting in the frames!

    <title>Motor Robe Red Plaid</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/pendleton-motor-robe-red-plaid</link>
    <description>
	Called steamer rugs during the early 20th century, these blankets were a warm, welcome companion for those who traveled by horse-drawn carriage, train or boat. Today these motor robes still feature the finest 100% pure virgin wool still woven in the Northwest Mill. Available in two authentic Scottish Tartans (blue and&amp;nbsp;red).&amp;nbsp;
	&amp;nbsp;

	In 1909 the first Indian Trade Blankets rolled off the looms in Pendleton, Oregon. A year later the first retail store opened in seaside Oregon.&amp;nbsp;You can see and feel the Pendleton passion for quality. See it in the intricate patterns of Native American blankets inspired by ancient designs and legends. But their legacy of quality will never change. You can rely on a Pendleton for a lifetime of comfort and beauty.

    <title>Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam 1 Year Anniversary</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-amsterdam-1-year-anniversary</link>
    <description>
	Today we celebrate the one year anniversary of our&amp;nbsp;Amsterdam based Red Wing store. The shop in the nine streets pays tribute to the rich history of the brand, which was launched in 1905 by Charles Beckman, having spotted a growing demand for sturdy work boots.

	For those of you have never stepped foot in the store, the shoes are displayed on top of steel and antique glass show cases, which are filled with coal. The dark, concrete walls have been decorated with workman&amp;#39;s tools that date back to the days when Red Wing was a fledgling company. One wooden wall, which itself was made from materials from an old Amish water tower, is used to exhibit most of the accessories on offer. Everything between these walls reminds you of the history of Red Wing, but in a contemporary setting.

	Soon Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam will offer their complete assortment online too. The first official web-store of the brand will be launched next month. More about that soon. Check out all the images for a more complete interior impression or visit SXH to see more.

    <title>Army Satchel Red</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/nigel-cabourn-army-satchel-red</link>
    <description>
	The Army Satchel by Nigel Cabourn is a precious piece from his collection. It is inspired by one his father used when he served the army in WWII. It is made from bright red oilcloth cotton (waxed canvas). This process of coating fabric in oil was originally developed for the British Fisherman who used this fabric for its water repellency against the harsh British Seas. It has a big main compartment with big zipper and 2 smaller front pockets. Sponge clean only! Made in Scotland.

    <title>The Shipwrights</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/the-shipwrights</link>
    <description>

		Our dear friend Joachim Baan published a very special set of photos today. Lee Jeans donated a few pairs of raw denims to the employees of a shipwright where they build Botters, a typical Dutch fishing boat. Joachim went to the shipyard and truly captured the spirit of local craft and the endurance of denim workwear.

	&amp;nbsp;

	&amp;quot;Behind the beautiful facade of the old village of Spakenburg, an almost lost world of real craftsmanship is hidden. Last year, my friends at Lee gave all the shipwrights a pair of unwashed jeans. One year later, a few pairs haven&amp;rsquo;t survived the hard work and though conditions, but a few aged like hell. Under a thick layer of oil, tar and paint, and patched together with extra ruler pockets the denim was hardly recognizable and almost look like waxed jeans. A beautiful setting for this original workwear. Enjoy the bigger picture on our Flickr page.&amp;quot;

    <title>Project Smallholder - Take 1</title>
    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/project-smallholder-take-1</link>
    <description>
	My&amp;nbsp;good friend and former classmate Ravi started a business a few years ago. He grows organic vegetables on his own allotment of about an acre in the centre of the Netherlands, selling the harvest on the market in Utrecht. He would forever complain about the quality of today&amp;#39;s work boots so we decided to support him with a proper pair of Red Wing Shoes. Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely summer evening on the land. Sharing good stories and sweet memories around the fireplace. Here&amp;#39;s Take 1, the start of a sequel with the Red Wing Shoes Store Amsterdam.

    <link>http://www.redwingamsterdam.com/blog/red-wing-shoes-at-bread-butter</link>
    <description>
	Our friends at Red Wing shoes were in Berlin this week to attend the Bread &amp;amp; Butter show. The brand presented its new highlights for the next Spring Summer season. Amongst many other highlights we hereby present the finest shots from their L.O.C.K. booth. Please beware of the new hand-sewn boat moc (made in Maine), the new Chukka in the&amp;nbsp;Wabasha&amp;nbsp;family and the blueberry boat shoe. Enjoy!
