We got our hands on a beautiful vintage pair of Red Wing Shoes 8271's, a boot we don't see often because it's actually only available in Japan. The 11'' Engineer Steel Toe was created in the 40's for the engineer workers on American railroads for feet protection. It protected the feet for the steam of the fires within the locomotive engines and hot embers that fell from the locomotive's firebox. They were advertised as pull-on boots for engineers and truck drivers. Nowadays the Red Wing Engineer boots are popular amongst motorcyclists because they provide so much protection. The Oro-Russet color and 11'' Engineer boot are a unique combination that will become more intense after wear. Do not miss the heavy damages on the nose that give this pair an extra rugged appearance. We hope Red Wing Shoes will add these beauties to the European Heritage collection soon (Special thanks goes out to Milco for this lovely pair of Red Wing 8271 Shoes).
As spring is showing up and first sunbeams warming our skin, we'll feature a series of shoes that are more suitable for the warmer times. To start with the beautiful Red Wing Shoes 8103 Work Oxford Oro Russet Portage. The Red Wing Work Oxford was built to meet the demands of factory managers who needed a sturdy work shoe as they moved from their office to the factory floor. It is a low version of the 6" Moc and build around the Norwegian Welt construction to add extra durability. The outsole is the Cushion Crepe Wedge with Traction Tred.
Let's bring some color in your life and enjoy the first days of spring with these lovely deep red Oxford shoes.
The Moc's are the original work boot styles that made Red Wing famous. They where designed for the workers on the farms and factories with a lightweight crepe sole with a minimal tread design to reduce the mud and dirt that would cleave to under your shoes. The name of the Moc came from the word moccasin, the Algonquian Indian word for shoe and became an icon for the Red Wing brand.
Last weeks we found some old late 19th-, early 20th century pictures of miners and factory workers wearing them, and we decided to make a shopwindow to celebrate this boot with its strong heritage.
In the window some new and old Red Wing Shoes 8131 6" Moc Oro-Russet's and 877 8" Classic Moc Oro-iginal's. Enjoy them all over here >
After its huge success in Japan the amazing 2940 (which was based on the 708, sold for almost 50 years between 1955 and 1999) will come to Europe any time soon. Stay tuned for this 8" Classic Round Toe in Oro Russet Portage.
Just found this pair of vintage 708's on Etsy — Just amazing!
