We love browsing the LIFE archives - there is so much to see, and such a rich documentation on the working class of the 20th century.. The other day we found these works by Hansel Mieth (1909–1998), a German-born photojournalist who worked on the staff of LIFE Magazine. She was best known for her social commentary photography which recorded the lives of working class Americans in the 1930s and 1940s. Here an amazing series of pictures of men working in a tannery and gloves factory in the late 30s.

The Red Wing Shoes 2972 Copper Rough & Tough was originally designed for railroad engineers. It provided all the protection necessary against the hazards in the locomotive cabins. The buckle was added as a status symbol, which to some extent it still is for this type of boot. This boot is made with our Copper Rough & Tough leather, which has a nice ‘worn look’ and will only become more beautiful over time. Until recently, this model was exclusively available in Japan, but we are excited to announce that you can now get your own pair at the Red Wing Store in Amsterdam!

Enjoy the Autumn

At the Red Wing Shoe Store we love the autumn, a hike during a cold morning, a drive through the rainy hills of the south or just the windy canals of Amsterdam on an afternoon downfall. At the shop we celebrated this with a shop window dedicated totraveling. The three different Beckman’s: the Cherry, Chestnut and the Black, the Heritage Leather Tool Bag, Le Labo’s vintage candles and some really nice Tanner Goods accessories which will come online anytime soon. Enjoy the autumn!

Doing some American style haircuts and driving a real ‘Muscle car on two wheels’; That’s what Tomcats, the Brooklyn based barbershop, is doing. We really love this old style American barbershop, beautifully shot by r-e-l-i-c.com for their Harley-Davidson ‘The Ridebook’.
