Red Wing Shoes - 3147 - Work Chukka Black Abilene
Red Wing Shoes 3147 - Work Chukka Black Abilene. This is a classic chukka model with workman functionality. Typical for this type of boot are the three eyelets on each side and a thin crepe outsole. Complete with black laces. The look is casual, but the model is tough, like all other Red Wing Shoes. The Black Abilene is a classic must have.

‘One of the most famous boot companies in the world has done well over the past few years with the resurgence of heritage brands in America and Europe. While they haven’t tried to exploit the undeniable trend, they have reacted in a reserved, calculated and tasteful way. With the opening of a couple of European shops, Red Wing has been able to extend the brand’s reach and offer a full range of product to a new market. The Red Wing Amsterdam location is a prime example of how the brand has taken this path, while also offering a fresh retail experience to the local market. In partnership with the owners of Tenue de Nîmes, the Red Wing shop carries a wide selection of items, merchandised alongside accessories from The Hill-Side, Duluth Pack and a handful of menswear publications. Amongst a collection of vintage tools, beds of coal and industrial furniture, Red Wing is also able to showcase their collection of lifestyle boots, designed in Japan and made in the United States.’
Recently graduated illustrator Paul X. Johnson made some really nice images. He is from the UK, but these images look like he lived 60 years ago up north in Minnesota, working as a logger, wearing Red Wing boots and using his spare time for illustrating. Truly inspiring!

Koji Wakayoshi, a loyal fan from Japan and craftsman behind Woodworking shop Seika Studio, shared these vintage Red Wing Shoes with us. A beautiful and rare pair of boots, looking very much like the old Moc Toe's in the Vintage Find we blogged earlier but we’re still not sure what it is and where they come from. When we know more, we’ll share it here.
Last week The Selby released his feature on GQ Derputy Editor Michael Hainey and his partner-in-crime Brooke Cundiff. It’s a beautiful apartment filled with nice treasures, books and artworks, and it’s always good to see a proper pair of Red Wing Shoes is in every mens closet.
