We're at Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence, getting some inspiration, celebrating some new and upcoming Red Wing Shoes and collaborations (more on that this afternoon) and shooting as many people in Red Wing boots we can capture. Stay tuned and follow us on Twitter for more updates.
This fall Red Wing Shoes will launch a new shoe where the ultimate work boot will meet British heritage. The shoe was originally designed as a country walking shoe for the people around Red Wing, Minnesota. Farmers and gamekeepers who needed a boot that could withstand constant exposure to water and a boot that, when wet, would not break down and hurt a person’s feet.
The small perforations were crafted into the leather of the toecaps and quarters of the boot to allow water to drain and the boot to dry at a quickened pace.
The shoes, in Antique Brown Chapararal and Black Chaparral leather with a Nitrile Cork sole, will be available at the Red Wing Shoes store in Amsterdam, and online, coming fall.

We are very proud to announce that we will host the upcoming Red Wing Shoes exhibition 'Memoirs, Good Old Boots'. The exhibition shows the story of fifteen pairs of worn out Red Wing boots and the life of their owners. Amongst many others the visitors will get to know all about the Red Wing boots of a Norwegian fisherman, two bikers from the United States and a rock band from Sweden. Each Red Wing pair shows a 'history' and a unique insight into the lives of the owners.
Red Wing Shoes Amsterdam will proudly launch the Dutch chapter of this exhibition on the 2nd of February. More soon.
The Moc's are the original work boot styles that made Red Wing famous. They where designed for the workers on the farms and factories with a lightweight crepe sole with a minimal tread design to reduce the mud and dirt that would cleave to under your shoes. The name of the Moc came from the word moccasin, the Algonquian Indian word for shoe and became an icon for the Red Wing brand.
Last weeks we found some old late 19th-, early 20th century pictures of miners and factory workers wearing them, and we decided to make a shopwindow to celebrate this boot with its strong heritage.
In the window some new and old Red Wing Shoes 8131 6" Moc Oro-Russet's and 877 8" Classic Moc Oro-iginal's. Enjoy them all over here >
Our Portuguese DJ friend Leote sent us some sunny images from his worn Red Wing Shoes 8113 Iron Ranger Hawthorne Muleskinner that he bought at the Red Wing Shoe Store about a year ago.
As he states in his email: "..pics of my Red Wing Iron Ranger's bought them in 2010 september at the Red wing Amsterdam shop and since then they have been with me during surfing trips, they suffered from sun, rain and lots of nights clubbing thanks to my DJ work." His conclusion: They only get prettier along the way. Have a look at his stunning pair of 8113 (and for the record ignore the sunny weather like we did too).
