Last week we visited Los Angeles to get inspired at Rin Tanaka's Inspiration, the Rose Bowl Flea Market and all the other lovely places of LA. A 'denim haven' as LA is it surely has good roots for vintage boots. The stacks and bales and warehouses full of vintage jeans where all accompanied with beautiful aged Red Wing Shoes. Straight from the mines and factories! Here some images taken at Inspiration, the Rose Bowl, our secret denim dealer and more. Enjoy!

The 8103 was built to meet the demands of factory managers who needed a sturdy work shoe as they moved from their office to the factory floor. The Work Oxford is a low version of the 6" Moc. This boot with its distinctive appearance is more suitable for the warmer times of the year and its Norwegian Welt construction adds extra durability. The outsole is the Cushion Crepe Wedge with Traction Tred. Maintenance: Leather Cleaner, Leather conditioner.

Dear first time buyers, we would like to make you aware of the fact that Red Wing shoes tend to be one size larger than your regular shoe size.

Please take this into consideration when purchasing a pair. webshop[at]redwingamsterdam.com [more]

It is getting colder here in the lowlands and the Dutch start dreaming about the Elfstedentocht, a 200 km ice ride in the north of the Netherlands. We can only be happy with the cold as it is the perfect weather for some heavy and warm Red Wing boots, so we thought let's show some real cold, some real snow and ice. And there's only one who did that in a beautiful and inspiring way: Vittorio Sella (1859 - 1943). Vittorio was an Italian photographer and mountaineer who climbed all the tops of the earth, from the European tops like the Mont Blanc and the Monte Rosa until the K2 and the peaks of the Caucasus, and made truly amazing images during his climbs. The images above where published in the 1st edition (1941) of Encyclopedie Alpina (via warymeyers).
Make sure you stay warm in pair of Red Wing Shoes 2268 Engineer Black Chrome, the Red Wing Shoes Work Gloves in Cognac, the Woolrich Arctic Cap in Olive, the Woolrich Byrd Cloth Parka Fango, the Merz B. Schwanen Long John 250 Natural and the Army Shirt Long 212 Grey Melange and enjoy the cold!

Red Wing Shoes Repair Service

Last month two of our favorite blogs posted both their own story on the Red Wing Shoes repair workshop and their beloved Red Wing 875 boots. The first one was Cool Hunting on the 'Red Wing Shoes Repair Service' and how a pair of well loved boots gets a much needed refresh at the century old workshop. The second one was from A Continuos Lean's 'Better Than New, re-crafting the Red Wing 875'. Both, Evan Orensten and Michael Williams, shipped their pair of boots back to the factory in Minnesota for a resole and made some nice images of the process. More images here & here
